Snowboarding
I don’t know about you but snowboarding has played a big part in my life. I would like to say I started snowboarding when I was just a kid but I didn’t. I learned how to snowboard when I was 18 years old. I remember the first time learning how to snowboard. I went up with my friend Nicole who is great at snowboarding and has been doing it for years. She started me out slow on a little bunny hill – which was just what I needed.
After a few hours of getting my feet wet I was making pretty good progress. I think it helped a lot that I knew how to wake board and snowboarding in my opinion is a lot like wake boarding. After a few years of snowboarding I felt like I was getting pretty good. I picked up the sport rather fast and felt pretty confident in my abilities.
I had been skiing since I was 10 – so snowboarding was a whole other world!
Well last year it caught up to me and not in a good way! I was snowboarding with my then boyfriend. I had taken a few years off from going and so I was not feeling very confident. After surviving the first trip the mountain I could not help feeling a little insecure.
The second time I went up disaster struck! I was still not feeling comfortable and I took a bad fall. I broke my wrist and had to be taken straight to the hospital! The same night I had to have emergency surgery and then I was stuck with pain medication and a big cast on my arm for weeks!
My advice to all the kids out there is start sports young so you can enjoy them more when you are older.
